Stammer6's Board-To-Board with Charitwo
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
I'm referring to these guides, they are open guides, not user ones. Anyone can edit these. People can have their own guides, however the aforementioned guides don't fall into that category.
And no that is not the solution, the solution for a content dispute would be to discuss it with everyone on the guide's talk page. If nobody can come to an agreement, perhaps we should just delete them entirely.
I also couldn't help but notice he said how I'm the bad guy. When he was originally editing every single one of my guides, I asked politely SEVERAL TIMES for him to stop and to maybe make his own guides if he disagreed with everything so much. In fact, I wasn't harsh at -all-. He decided to threaten me and drop a bomb on me with insults and aggression. When I used the word "vandal", I didn't even imply for one-tenth of a second that it was him. I didn't call him names, I just said "vandal". And then he reported me to you and said that I was being mean to him. I wasn't mean at all. Mean would be saying "Woadbooks came into my guides and vandalized them all with stupid grammar and spelling, and completely ignoant logic (or lack thereof)".
Since I want the guides one way and he wants the guides another way, wouldn't the single most effective way to settle this be to ask that he write his own guides instead? That way we won't be fighting over how the guides should be in the first place.
The idea behind the "How-To Guides" were to have guides written by Your's Truly that anyone could freely edit. However, when someone goes into the guides and changes everything around using poor grammar, poor spelling, and downright false information (eg: saying Elvaan have the highest AGI in the game), I get a little annoyed. And when they don't stop, and in fact threaten to continue doing so, it hurts. After taking a brief look through, it seems like the guides have been mostly fixed since then, so I don't really care. Just as long as I don't have to put up with vandalism anymore.
"Stammer's How-To Guide" was designed to be just that-- a guide written by me as my own little thing. I don't see why, if someone has their own opinions, they can't create their own guide. You don't derail a thread on the forums when you have your own ideas, you create your own thread. Why can't the same be done here?
Just because it's a Wiki doesn't mean people can't have personal guides.
Woadbooks is right, these are not YOUR guides or YOUR pages. They belong to everyone. If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to stay here.
But what if a dispute cannot be settled? Seriously, this guy is being a total dick about this situation. He's screwing up my guide and not letting me change anything. I don't want to get banned, which is why I'm not spam-changing stuff too. He's even threatened to do the same crap to all of my other guides.
If you want to talk about World of Warcraft, go here. As far as content disputes on articles or guides, that is taken care of by discussion on the appropriate pages talk page. Edit warring will just get people banned.
And since that's clearly not going to work, what else do you have to suggest?
Seriously, if I just went into all of the different pages on here and started writing "World of Warcrap sucks" on every page, wouldn't you fix it? And what if I just un-unedited it? You'd probably be pretty pissed off, wouldn't you?
It's too late, people have already made contributions, meaning it can't be converted to a user guide, because the content is already claimed byt the masses. The proper thing to do is discuss the changes on the guide's talk page.
First of all, how could I make it into a UserGuide? Because he's disputing that wikis do not allow such things. Secondly, I'm only trying to stop his edits because he's doing nothing but changing them for the worse. And the only other way I could stop him is to have an edit war, which is frowned upon by you admins.
I sent you a message yesterday. I'll copy and paste what I wrote: "Hey, now I have another problem. This guy named Woadbooks keeps editing my Beginner How-To Guide. Normally I'm fine with people editing them, but he's changing a lot and replacing it with false information and bad grammar. I undid his edit, he undid my undo. I sent him a message explaining myself, he threatened to change all of my guides. I undid his change again, and he did the same. I don't want to start an edit war, so I decided to talk to an admin about this. Anything you can do?"
He's completely changing my guide. And I know that if I undo his edits, he's just going to undo my undo. Please do something.

Yep, just copy the source from here: http://prishels.net/search/index.shtml
I threw that together real quick, should work in any page that accepts html.
Hey Chari, out of curiosity, is there any way of embedding the search function for FFXIclopedia in another web site using HTML?
You got it. Thanks, Charitwo.
Since I still have your attention, I was wondering what ever happened to the fact that I can't connect to this site's forums? I started talking about it with you a long while back and you just stopped replying to my messages relating to it.
I've sent him a message, things should be ok now, let me know if he touches your guides in a bad faith manner again.
We've reached the conclusion with his final message saying "Fine, I won't quarantine your guides. However, I'm still going hack up your guides npnp."
Not exactly sure what the latter half meant, but I'm assuming this means I can undo all of his changes again?
Apparently he's "quarantining" my guides as an attempt to stop readers from viewing my other guides because the information is false. Whether this is true or not, I'm not sure, but every other person who's ever commented on my guides have said nothing but positive things about them, so I don't know what his problem is.
