Accomplice

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

Job Ability

  • Steals half of the target party member's enmity and redirects it to the thief.
  • Obtained: Thief Level 65
  • Recast Time: 5:00
  • Duration: Instant
  • Distance: 8.8

Notes/Description

  • Works only on members of the Thief's party. Does not work on Alliance members.
  • Can be very effectively used immediately after a high enmity two hour ability like Benediction or Invincible.
  • Extremely inneffective if used at the beginning or middle of an ability like Hundred Fists or Mighty Strikes because the continued generation of enmity will quickly overcome the enmity of the Thief.
  • If used in combination with Perfect Dodge, can give the party a breather much like that experienced when using Invincible but they should be aware that Perfect Dodge doesn't generate large amounts of enmity like Invincible, and so they should try very hard not to do anything that generates much enmity and steals hate in the middle of Perfect Dodge.
  • Can provide some comfort that a party member can "let loose" for a period of time and allow the Thief to steal a portion of the hate generated afterwards. The party member should then cease to generate significant amounts of enmity lest they get hate right back.
  • This ability works for all monsters the target currently has enmity on. For instance, you're fighting mob A, and mob B comes in and links. You may want to provide some temporary cover with Accomplice. However, since picking up aggro generates no enmity, you must wait to use Accomplice until someone (the sleeper, tank, etc.) performs an enmity-building action on the mob.
  • Both the party member and the enemy(s) must be within a certain distance for enmity to be stolen (8.5')
  • This ability shares a recast time with the job ability Collaborator.
