Notes One of the Spitewardens of Lady Lilith, the leader of the "Cryptscale Protectorate" appears to be a human fomor. He acts very childish and frequently rubs Haudrale the wrong way....Historical Background Aquila is the Latin word for "eagle." In addition to being the name of a genus of birds of prey (including some eagles) and a Roman military standard, Aquila is a constellation along the celestial equator. The constellation resembles a wide winged, soaring, short necked, bird, which the ancients identified as an eagle. In classical Greek mythology, it was identified as the eagle which carried the thunderbolts of Zeus and was sent by him to carry the shepherd boy Ganymede, who he desired, to Mount Olympus where he became the winepourer for all the gods. In Hinduism, the Aquila constellation is identified with Garuda. |
