Bloody Rondo/Strategies

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

Strategy recommendations: The doppelganger is not undead. It is basically a clone of a player, equipment included. This means that any special equipment effects will be cloned too (such as a relic weapon's additional effect -confirmed). You can cast Gravity, but Bind seems to resist on the Cursed Doppelganger. (Note: If the player flees it will flee too.). He may call this doppelganger more then once.

  • Recommended that at least non-tank melee have shadows for protection against the Doppelganger.
  • If your tank is not wielding a weapon when cloned, the Cursed Doppelganger will be much less bothersome.
  • A PLD/WAR tank combined with ranged damage to avoid AoE worked well.
  • Kill Doppelganger when it pops, very weak and low HP, weak to magic.
  • Recomended for tank to have stack of Holy Water to remove doom.
If an Avatar has hate, a doppelganger of the Summoner can be spawned from Nosferatu's Kiss.

Party setup: NIN/WAR, PLD/NIN, RNG, COR, RDM, BLM

Relatively, this was an easy fight with no deaths and no real panic moments. The key to winning this fight is kiting Dracula and attacking with ranged attacks and slowly wear him down with enfeebles/nukes.

  • Enter the battlefield at 18:00 so the NIN can use night-time ninja speed to kite Dracula easily. Make sure tank doesn't have any weapons equipped or else the Dopplegangers will copy that.
  • While NIN kept hate majority of the time, it was important for everyone to have distance and be spread out in case anyone else managed to get hate. Dracula doesn't walk fast as he stops often to cast DRK spells, making kiting him easy.
  • When Dopplegangers came out we had PLD tank and melee focused on it instead of Dracula.
  • Slowly weared Dracula down with ranged attacks and enfeebles/nukes and still managed to win with plenty of time left on the clock.

We did this as: NIN/DRK, SAM, WAR/SAM, BLM/RDM, RDM, WHM

We used almost the same strategy as above. We found that kiting is overrated and it was just easier at times to stop and have the NIN straight tank him for a while. NIN was wearing an Earth Staff and AF feet for speed boost at night. SAM and WAR skillchained (Yuki -> Raging Rush -> Kasha -> Light) and the BLM MB'd upper-tier Thunder spells. WHM and RDM kept everyone healed and refreshed as needed. WAR, SAM, and BLM handled the doppelgangers while the NIN kited Dracula. We killed him with 4-5 minutes to spare.

Another Strategy is pld/nin, blm, blm, blm, rdm/nin and cor.

  • PLD/NIN Kites the mob as best as possible.
  • BLM nuke the boss and doppleganger if it pops.
  • Boss is weak to Burst 2 and Thundaga 3.
  • RDM enfeeble and help heal. RDM also helps to keep the doppleganger busy till it is killed. ___________________________________________________________________________________________

We did this fight as: PLD/NIN, BLM/RDM, SAM/WAR, SMN/WHM, BST/NIN, RDM/SCH

Roles:

  • PLD: Tank and main kiter
  • SAM: Solo fragmentation skill chains and take out the clones
  • SMN: Constantly attack the mob with their avatar. BP when he stops to cast
  • BST: Jug bet attacks the mob constantly, the BST hangs back and helps the SAM with clones
  • BLM: Keeps up 3 of the Elemental DoTs and bursts on the SAM skill chains.
  • RDM: Keeps Poison II and Dia II (3 if you have it) on the mob and refreshes/hastes every one

This is a long grinding fight, a lot of the damage will come from the DoT spells and the 2 pets attacking the mob (that’s why we used Dia no Bio), and so you need to gear accordingly.

  • PLD with movement speed enhancement is useful, but not necessary. A decent haste set will help with shadows.
  • The SMN will need good avatar perpetuation cost down gear as they won’t get to rest. The RDM need to keep the SMN refreshed as close to full time as possible
  • Holy waters are very ineffective at removing doom (~1/4).
  • Hate is generally very flaky, as the PLD isn’t emceeing, you have to rely on Flash and Cures. It’s recommended that most of the RDMs healing is done through regen (II).
  • The pets/avatars can end up tanking as their slow but constant DoT can pull hate, this will allow the PLD to get his shadows up and let timers reset, but it’s a bad idea to let them tank for long, as if they die you will be low on damage (especially if it’s the BSTs pet which could be down for 10mins).

Plan WS->MB

  • Once Sekkanoki/TP is ready and the BLM has MP, the PLD will call a time that he is going to straight tank the mob. The RDM should cast Slow (II) and Paralyze (II) to help the PLD survive.
  • Once the mob stops the SAM engages and instantly chains Fragmentation, which the BLM burst on. This can do a lot of damage. We found that the SAM would end up with hate (not the BLM), so he would kite it until the PLD regains hate. SAM/NIN may make this easier.
  • Each time a clone would pop; the BST and SAM would engage and kill (normally with the BLM helping)
  • In between skill chains and clones, the SAM should be meditating for TP and the BLM resting (as refreshing the BLM is low on the RDMs priorities)

Just won as: PLD/NIN, WHM/SCH, BRD/WHM, SAM/NIN, WAR/NIN, RDM/WHM

Full buffs unpon entering, then rest to full. Basic premise is to straight tank the boss like you would the other FL assaults. Face him away from everyone else so they don't get hit with doom/charm. The Pld himself can turn around to avoid doom. When a doppleganger pops, the war vokes it, then both he and the sam melee it down saving the TP built up to use on Count Dracula. He goes down very fast this way. At one point, both the pld and sam got doomed, and it couldn't be removed in time, and thus died. We discovered, however, that Dracula can be bound and that was key to our recovery. He didn't seem to build any resistance as the war was able to kite it around the entire time with the help of bind until both the pld and sam recovered. We got lucky that he never used charm, but if he had, we could have simply slept the charmed person with horde lullaby. If it was the tank that was charmed, again horde lullaby, bind Dracula and wait until charm wears off. Very easy fight this way.
