Fishing Guild's Comment

Degong : "The seas right off the coast of Minartia is where you'll find whole schools of bluetail.
Slices of Sardine should be good enough to get 'em to bite, but I'm not guaranteein' anything."

Historical Background

It is unknown which fish the Bluetail could be based on. A heavy clue comes from the name of its Eastern analog, the Uskumru. This is derived from the Turkish uskumru, referring to a type of mackerel. Both mackerels and bluetails like tropical and temperate seas, both live offshore but can also be found in deep water near coast lines, both are known for their fighting ability, and (although the FFXI picture of a Bluetail lacks detail) they both appear to have a slim, cylindrical shape.
