Call for Help
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
Details
The Claim system of FFXI means that once a person/party/alliance has performed any offensive action towards a monster with a yellow name, that monster is 'Claimed' and cannot be attacked by any third party unless one of two things happens:
- Claim loss, wherein the first party stops attacking such that the mob's name changes from magenta back to yellow.
- Call for Help, wherein any member of the party uses either the "Help" command on the Action Menu, types /help, or /h into their chat box. No confirmation will be requested.
Once Call for Help is used, the monster in question will immediately become available for any nearby player to attack. Its name will turn a reddish orange and be displayed near the Radar of any player in range of the mob. Usually, when a mob is made available, nearby players will immediately jump in to save their adventuring brethren.
When a mob is defeated in Call for Help mode, no experience or items are rewarded.
After a set period, an idle mob will revert to yellow (unclaimed) mode.
- Note that if you Call for Help on a monster any enemy with enmity towards you will receive the status of Call for Help. This is extremely important when fighting large enemies where links or aggro may be unavoidable.
