Cardians
The specialty of the Federation of Windurst, these automaton guards were created by Zonpa-Zippa and are handled by the Manustery. Since their creation, Cardians have become a permanent fixture of Windurstian life, used to patrol, guard, and scout. Cardian guards are valued resources of the Windurstian Military, however rumors persist of Cardians going rogue and attacking their masters.

The rogue Cardians, found only in the Horutoto Ruins, are broken up into four sub-groups based on their suit that will determine their job type: Coins are Red Mage type mobs, Swords are Paladins, Batons are Black Mages, and Cups are White Mage mobs.

Historical Background

Cardian is a portmanteau of card and guardian. In Sailor Moon, these were the monsters that came from the tarot cards used in the first Arc of R by the aliens.

The four suits of the Cardians (Swords, Cups, Coins, Batons) correspond to the traditional four suits of Spanish card deck and the minor arcana in a Tarot card deck.
