New Pages for Feral Skills

Hello, as you may have seen I've redone the attribute links on the page to point to "<feral skill name> (Feral Skill)", instead of the normal attribute page. For example, the Feral Skill "Accuracy Bonus" now points to the page "Accuracy (Feral Skill)" instead of the generic "Accuracy" page. This is to allow us to unclutter the main page, by allowing the monsters that drop the skills be added directly to the Feral Skill page. This had been discussed on this, and the Pankration Organization thread in the forum. When creating pages, I think we should use the example shown on "Accuracy (Feral Skill)" and "Attack (Feral Skill)", made by Gahoo.

I tried to make a general template for it; see the original version of "Ice Damage (Feral Skill) for an example.

After all the pages are made, and have all the mobs on them, we can redo the table to just show the skills. See http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/User:Gahoo/Sandbox8 for an example. --ShadowsFell 18:59, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

All done with links on main page to new Feral Skills pages.... I was kinda going crazy towards the end, so hopefully there's few mistakes, if any ;) --ShadowsFell 19:37, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

All of the Feral Skills in the main table should have their own page now. Now we need to work on finishing moving the information from the main page to the skill pages, so we can simplify the main Feral Skills page table. Thanks! --ShadowsFell 02:32, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

General

I think this page is prolly going to have to be organized better, instead just a list of random monsters/abilities. Perhaps sorting it by animal family? Rylan 16:51, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Added an FP cost column because without it the info is kinda useless. Also tried to sort the info on the zone column, but with the huge amount of edits going on at the moment it's kinda impossible.

I'm guessing the abilities are based on mob family and not the specific mobs themselves, but more data is needed ^^ Doetje 1:03, 10 September 2007 (GMT+1 Smmertime)

Yeah -- what we're probably going to need to do is create a Category:Feral Skills and start classifying this by what monsters "drop" what skills. I'm starting to see that there's Main Job: Support Job: Stat bonus (VIT + 25), Other Bonus (Attack Bonus +10%) Rylan 19:32, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

I sorted the list alphabetically by zone, then by monster. This makes it easier to keep organized and nagivate as well. --CharitwoTalk 19:34, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Feral Skills listed very handy thank-you, still needs to broken down into categories thou. Is there a master list of which monsters you can have made into pets? Searching and do not see one yet. Comic collectr 20:50, 10 September 2007 (EDT)

This will probably be done soon, the page is under heavy construction right now so I wouldn't suggest any major changes until it cools down a bit. Get all the mob names in for now and clean it up later is probably the easiest thing right now. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 21:57, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

This may sound corny, but this article is the perfect example of collaborative writing, so much teamwork and most people are following the disclaimer rules. Teamwork! --CharitwoTalk 23:14, 10 September 2007 (CDT)

Definitely going to be needing more organization, I've counted up to 5 different Chigoe skills so far, and a new one I just took <Accuracy Bonus> FP 30. SE sure didn't think of XIclopedia when they designed Pankration, lol --Aletheia 02:11, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

I do believe that we should definately make this a category and have a page for each type of ability (or sub page) which would list all the monsters available to get from it, according to monster family or something. And probably for each monster, under the description, display the possible Feral Skills extracted from these monsters. ~ Goddess ~ TalkContrib 02:27, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

Yeah, for organizing this section, i would suggest we wait a week so that everyone has a chance to get the mobs listed and what bonuses they give, then i suggest 3 possible ways of organizing the list 1: Alphabetical Mob > Normal Zone (IE: Lesser Colibiri > Wajaom Woodlands) 2: Alphabetical Mob > Besieged Mobs (IE: Medusa > Besieged) 3: Alphabetical Mob > Promythion Zone (IE: Thinker > Promyvion - Dem) --Jhes 02:59, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

Maybe it would be a good decision to include the information on feral skills on the actual mob pages. There are a ton of mobs in the game from the same families and types. There isn't a mob that I know that you cannot scan. Of course, this would mean changes to the mob templates to house this information. This would also mean a lot of old pages will be updated. Jareem 09:11, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

I was looking over your list and i noticed something in the +25 agility part, i took a picture of an orcish bowshooter in misareaux coast, and i got that, just figure id point that out for you guys, since i have no real clue on how to properly edit these pages. --Renzuko 09:28, 11 September 2007 (CST)

Perhaps this can be temporarily locked and an admin (or whatever) can sort it out and provide a good order for others to follow? I suggest by mob family or area, since it makes it easier for the reader. Might I also add it is a headache to edit now, since you may have skipped something already added and it's annoying to fix the broken links and things. --Joped 14:00, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

I was thinking that a section of mobs that can't be captured should be added when people start to find out which ones they are. I haven't found any myself or I'd start one. --BroneDragon 21:14, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

I agree with adding the Feral skills to the actual mob pages themselves, it seems like a very natural addition and makes a lot of sense. I think the complete list here should be maintained as well of course, but I think having both would work extremely well together. --Aletheia 09:04, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, the feral skills should definately be added to the actual mob pages themselves. People have began making actual pages for each feral skill -- the attribute link for the Feral Skill on the main page should link to that, instead of the "normal" job skill. The page name format is of the standard "<feral skill name> (Feral Skill)". I began converting some of the links, and did accuracy, attack, and additional <element> damage. --ShadowsFell 13:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

List reorganization

Useful information, but the list will be far too long considering the amount of mobs that can give any specific skill.

I'd suggest the following:

FERAL SKILL -- FP#

Alpha-list of mobs that grant the skill

No need to specify where the mob is located since people can click the mob name to learn more about it, including location. I assume, to correspond, Feral Skills/Soul Plates will eventually be added to each mob's respective page.--Nightxade 13:01, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

Proposed Organization What if this page were to be sorted by "types" of stats given? So there would be a section for stat bonuses, a section for % bonus, etc. Each of those would be a link that would go to a page for that specific feral skill. There the details of that skill could be added and a list of the mobs that drop it. (which would in turn be a link to the page for that mob.) We'd need maybe templates created for this. I'm not really familiar with the editing side so this is only a suggestion for implementation by someone that knows the system.--Altariel 22:15, 11 September 2007 (CDT)

I feel like the best way to organize this information would be to list each attribute, the total FP, and then the mobs/zones from which it is required. No need to list the same exact attribute multiple times just because you can get it from multiple sources. Resheph 15:16, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

I like this format the best from what I've seen thus far. And I think it will be the easiest, most organized way to go about this. --Futan 01:02, 13 September 2007 (CDT)

I am working on a short Python script to load the wiki page as it is, convert it to a list, sort, and output a wiki page sorted by several criteria. I will post all relevant scripts in my Sandbox when I am done, along with the results. -- Autochron

Just wanted to add that if anyone gets to sorting it first, that's cool. Don't mean to monopolize anything. -- Autochron

Feral Skills Template Proposal

Here is an example of how I feel that the information should be organized. I adapted the Blue Magic monster charts to suit the needs. I did the best I could with the info I had available and left room for expansion. Resheph 16:29, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

Ninja Feral Skills

Teaches the basic ninja job traits. Only effective when ninja has been set as main or support job.

Ninja Tool Supply

If all NIN mobs in the game can drop NIN-related plates, it's better to simply list the job. Same thing for family (Ie, HP Max +15% on trolls). NMs might have unique skills though, like Auto Regain on HNMs, so listing those by name would be okay. --Seedling 13:44, 19 September 2007 (EDT)

Random Skills and FP points

been out with a ls friend showing him how to do it, and we taken shots of the same mob but got diffrent traits and fps. Crawlerbasher 19:59, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

It seems that you can get many different feral skills/traits from one mob, so if you are interested a mob you should probably take as many shots as possible. Resheph 20:53, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

Organization Idea

Perhaps it would make things much simpler and more organized if we were to simply convert a form of the bestiary or monster family page and make it fit into the same scheme.

Instant Stoneskin
FP: 12
Initiates Stoneskin upon the onset of Battle <- Help text (not accurate by the way, I don't have the exact text handy)

Monsters Obtainable From

Name Level Zone
Evil Armory  ? SE Apollyon

Perhaps having the feral skills page simply list all the various skills, then have the individual skill pages list what monsters give these skills would make for a more legible listing of skills and monsters rather than jamming everything into a single page.
It may also be helpful to add a section to the Monster Template for Pankration Skills that can be obtained (although until we find out all that can be gained from each monster that may be excessive work for the time being).
I second the above idea. When people come to this page they'll be looking for specific skills, what they do, and where to get them.--Lokyar 06:32, 13 September 2007 (CDT)

Mob Pages

So this is a pretty massive mob change. There are two issues. 1. Organization of this page. This talk page seems like a fine place to discuss it - although might want to use the forums too. 2. Identification on the mob pages of their feral skills / points. I think this should be on the forums since it is not tied to a specific page. link of thread in progress. --GAHOO t/ c 10:08, 13 September 2007 (CDT)

I did put a few inforamtion on a few of the mobs page like
Pankration Notes:

But it was taken off. It would at least give us some additional information of the mob, and even point back to this page to find others.

Alphabetical(!) List

To clarify, this list is, or rather should be, currently being organised alphabetical by skill name > Mob name > zone. Correct? Verification Needed If someone confirms this I am happy to amend the list accordingly.... --Tigzter 00:51, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

And I am assuming we are using the alphabet that goes 0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ? Or is there another version I don't know - hmmm I should have been an english teacher!! Lol --Tigzter 00:51, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Pictures for profit

Am I the only one who's given up farming and started to take their camera with them everywhere? Some plates I've managed to sell cover the price of 50 cameras (standard) and 600 soul plates (standard)--Lordshadow 16:55, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Absorbing Attack

Absorbing Attack feral skill added by Aeru, but no monster or location. Should that even be admissible?
