It might be helpful if this page had a status effect hierarchy, showing which statuses overwrite which statuses and which statuses can stack with one another, or have a box on the page of each status, listing what spell stacks with what and is overwritten with what. --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 14:54, 25 February 2006 (PST)

I just put the overwrites under How to remove this effect, since it does remove it, and stacking only applies to a couple of effects, namely blind, flash, and the elemental debuffs, so those can just go there under the description.

What about food and drink? Perhaps Drinks should be one and any other Food should be another? Is that correct? --Gahoo 06:26, 1 March 2006 (PST)

Yes, I was going to add Food and Drink. I think it will go under Other, due to the fact that not all foods are positive (i.e. salsa). But then again, most of them are, so I'll probably just put them under positive and word it appropriately to reflect that. --Chrisjander 06:47, 1 March 2006 (PST)

Can anyone tell me the name of the negative status effect that works like poison for your MP? I know I've encountered it before, but I can't remember what it's called for the life of me...--Chrisjander 13:05, 1 March 2006 (PST)

Plague. --Valyana 18:21, 1 March 2006 (PST)

Post-Raise Effect

I forget the name. --Gahoo 15:54, 1 March 2006 (PST) Weakened? --Gahoo 07:39, 13 March 2006 (PST)

Other Other Statuses

From screenshots I've seen, Linkshell and Burning Circle are statuses. The BC status is a little yellow version of the BC symbol at the big 3 BC sites (Waughroon, Horlais, Balga). The BC status is found in all BC zones, but only in the battle arenas (not in the entry area). The same applies to Temenos & Apollyon (not present in the lobby, present on all paths/towers). I don't think Dynamises have it though. Oh yeah, and BC-effect areas can exist inside non-BC zones (one of the Promathia mission battles with Zdeis involves this). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 07:43, 3 March 2006 (PST)

Positive Mob Only Status Effects

Should these go in also? Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Evasion Up - which Lizards get. Or is this also available to players and just missing? --Gahoo 09:01, 3 March 2006 (PST)

EDIT: Well at least my example is moot. Sheepfoe Mambo is evasion up I think. So I guess this is a new one? --Gahoo 09:03, 3 March 2006 (PST)

Well, Sheepfoe Mambo is a song effect which gives Evasion Boost, so that's a song effect, but since we're puttting monster only spells, I don't see why we shouldn't put monster only status effects. Besides, with the implementation of Blue Mage, these might become available to players. I'm not too sure about BCNM as a status effect, are you sure that's not Level Cap? If not, what specific effects does Burning Circle Effect give? --Chrisjander 09:18, 3 March 2006 (PST)

All statuses present in the game should be listed. I remember FFV's FAQ on Gamefaqs, which pretty much provided *all* the technical data for the game listed all statuses, including obscure ones found only on 1 or 2 bosses, like False Image. So, yes, I would say any and all statuses should go here.

Yes, BC is a status. Go into a BCNM or look at screenshots of a BCNM. There is a little icon resembling the Burning Circle. It is not the same as the Level Cap. I'm not sure what effects it gives, but it may have to do with fighting the monster, limiting its attacks to whoever has the status or whatnot. Check the screenshots, you'll see the BC icon separate from the Level Cap icon.--zoogelio-forgot-his-password 14:18, 3 March 2006 (PST)

Nice job! This looks really good!

One point though, can someone try a BCNM and see that there's a little burning circle icon on the top of the screen during the battle so Burning Circle can be added to the last category of the statuses? --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 20:00, 15 March 2006 (PST)

I'll be doing Wings of Fury soon, I'll try to grab a pic. --Chrisjander 20:18, 15 March 2006 (PST)

"Other" Effects

  1. Berserk - isn't this positive? I understand that it has a negative compoenent - but if it were negative it would not be used. It is given as a positve enhancement to the players.
  2. Costume - this is truly neutral/other
  3. Level Cap - this is truly neutral/other
  4. Reraise - strikes me as positive only
  5. Signet - strikes me as positive only
  6. Song - strikes me as positive only - unless you get the same effect when a Mob bard sings a debuff sone?
  7. Synthesis Image Support - strikes me as positive only

I can change berserk, since that's viewed as positive. I put songs under other because of their multiple effects, and the fact that they can be used to give negative effects as well as positive. Synthesis Image Support, while it does give a positive effect, isn't related to combat, so isn't really a 'buff' per se. We can continue to discuss this of course, especially if you still think SIS needs to be moved. I'll be moving Berserk now. --Chrisjander 07:10, 16 March 2006 (PST)

I don't mind SIS staying. I was on the fence. And I guess Signet can stay also for the same reason. But reraise is combat and positive only IMO. --Gahoo 07:15, 16 March 2006 (PST)

As for Song - Can you have a "Song" effect on you that is negative? I admit I have not paid much attention to this - but if a Yag bard sings a debuff on you - do you see the "Song" symbol? or the specific effect down symbol? --Gahoo 07:17, 16 March 2006 (PST)

You see the "Song" symbol. Song debuffs are distinct from non-song debuffs just like buffs. --Valyana 10:16, 16 March 2006 (PST)

Ok.

Also - according to the Category:Dynamis page, there is a status effect which reduces your subjob to 00. --Gahoo 15:34, 16 March 2006 (PST)

dynamis st eff

Really? Anyone know what it's called? --Chrisjander 15:48, 16 March 2006 (PST)

I think you might be referring to the Burning Circle status, found in BCNMs, ENMs, Dynamis, and Limbus, and a few parts of regular zones (such as PM8-3 battle). --zoogelio-forgot-his-password 17:41, 16 March 2006 (PST)

Wow, this page looks so nice now

Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but this page looks nice now that its nigh completed. Thank you, everyone, for helping me complete this page, and for filling in the status effects I couldn't remember or didn't think about.

--Chrisjander 21:24, 19 March 2006 (PST)

One effect that's missing is Besieged. I'm not sure what the symbol is exactly, or it's effect, but there is a Besieged status effect during besieged. I think it might eliminate xp loss from death? Speaking of which, is there a special ENM, no xp loss status effect? --Syeria 13:26, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

Actually, there's a number of effects missing that were introduced in CoP dynamis. One I can think of is Mute, which is an incurable version of Silence. This is what Promathia uses, and also is used by the Nightmare Cockatrice in Dynamis - Buburimu. Apparently a lot of the Nightmare mobs in Buburimu use crazy versions of their normal skills like this; in particular the Nightmare Mandragoras have Scream inflict AoE Terror instead of AoE MND Down. Yikes! Aurikasura 18:04, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

I'm pretty sure that the ENM effect is just the normal Battlefield icon, but I could be wrong (only been in one ENM so far). As for the others, I haven't explored CoP yet (stupid promies) so I can't document the new StE myself. If you find one, and you know what the effect is specifically called (i.e. Dudeman gains the effect of Amnesia.), then by all means, add it to the category, and make a page for it (Status Effect Template). --Chrisjander 21:03, 8 May 2006 (PDT)
