Shouldn't it be "Category:Wivres", or have we not seen the plural form of "wivre" yet? Too bad category pages can't be moved or something. :( --Joped 11:59, 9 March 2007 (EST)
EDIT: Also, are we sure that these are beasts and not lizards, dragons, or something else? --Joped 12:00, 9 March 2007 (EST)
EDIT2: Some JP websites call them "armor dragons". Not that I trust a JP more than anyone else, but it's something to think about. Plus, I haven't heard any report of wivres being anything yet. --Joped 09:33, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
EDIT3: Also, I'm pretty sure the Mamool Ja knights/hussars are considered Mamool Ja by SE, and thus, those are probably beastmen. They might be dual-correlated, though. --Joped 18:01, 15 March 2007 (EDT)
Granite Hide
Granite Hide is classified as an Enhancing Skill. Many suggest that Granite Hide is a skill used on the enemy itself granting it a ‘Parry or Guard Skill Increase’. Many have also claimed that it is not possible to erase Granite Hide with the spell Dispel. Maybe Granite Hide is not affected by Dispel. It is also possible that Granite Hide does not say, “Granite Hide is removed” (or w/e it says in the chat log), but is in-fact removed. If this is the case then there is a possibility that it is going to be fixed in a future update, or possibly left up to whoever debuffs the Wivre to realize they have erased Granite Hide. In my opinion Granite Hide cannot be removed and is just a skill that lasts for a certain amount of time until it wears off and wont be in effect after the duration of the skill until used again.
My partner and I tested it yesterday, duo-ing them. It does not give any effect in the log, though I really do believe it should. All it says now is: "The Wivre uses Granite Skin".
Now, it LOOKS like a Phalanx effect (the name even suggests so) but it actually isn't at all. It is indeed Parrying / Guard Up. One thing about Wivre when you are meleé-ing them is that they do not always turn to face those with hate, so you can essentially stand at their sides and back and hit them - they will just change to side-swiping with the horn or hitting with the tail, much like Wyrms. If you wait until they use Granite Skin, move behind them and fight them there, you will notice that you'll hit them like you normally would. Otherwise, you will be missing a lot of hits if you stay at the front near their heads (which is how Parrying works). Some hits did get through, and they were doing 0 to extremely low dmg with Scorp Harness equipped, but a little more with a Kirin's Osode - which is the Guard.
It is un-Dispellable and it wears off after a short amount of time. My partner would miss a lot when he was at its front, then it'd suddenly go back to normal. It doesn't display anything in the log because you cannot remove it (I was RDM/WHM with Pluto's Staff and Lv.303 Enfeebling Magic). Hope this helps. :) Aequis 14:27, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
