Historical Background[]
The Coquecigrue an imaginary creature in French fables. They were a combination of a rooster, a crane and a stork. The coquecigrues were a moving band of migratory birds. If a human chanced to see these fabled creatures, the lead bird in the group issued a piercing cry as a warning to others, signalling them to fly high up in the sky, out of sight.
