Busting on an Evoker's roll will give you -1 MP/tick less on your own total MP refreshed; i.e. you do not actually lose MP. The deduction is only to the total MP refreshed, and not individual cases. E.g. Ballad and the Refresh Spell would only have -1 MP refresh out of the total, not two.
