Historical Background

Several backgrounds can be given for "fay". Since it is made with Feyweald Lumber it is possible that the original name was meant to be Fey Lance and not Fay Lance (for a discussion of fey please refer to Feyweald Log). As it currently stands, fay is typically is used as verb when fitting or joining something up closely or tightly. As a noun, it usually refers to two now mostly obsolete words. The first is an an obsolete term for faith and second for a Middle English term for elves and fairies. Finally, the Lance could be named in honor of somebody, taking a page from the Arthurian legends, Morgan le Fay was a sorceress and the sister of King Arthur.
