Historical Background

Girtab, also called Theta Scorpii, is a star in the constellation Scorpius. It is an F-type star (white) located about 272 ly from the Sol solar system. Girtab is Sumerian for "scorpion" or "stinger". Girtab is also the Babylonian name for the constellation Scorpius. It is one of the few stars not named by the Arabs and Greeks.
