Historical Background

In Norse mythology, Hati is a wolf who chases the Moon through the sky, trying to devour it. It will succeeed at Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world. Hati's brother Skoll was a wolf who chased the Sun through the sky. Skoll would succeed, like Hati, at Ragnarok, and devour the Sun.

Hati is also the name of a moon of Saturn discovered on May 4, 2005. It is a small moon 6km in diameter.
