Sounds to me like people are going to start doing bullcrap edits just for points. Cool idea though, if it doesn't get abused too much. IllusioRemora 05:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)IllusioRemora

If people try and do stupid stuff to pad their scores, they'll prob just get reverted and reported --Themanii 07:57, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Uploading images doesnt affect your points :( --Themanii 05:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I requested this before we went live, they said it wasn't possible. --CharitwoTalk 00:31, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

All the images I'm uploading/will eventually update wont net me anything :p ah well, I'm not doing this for points, we just have too many low res images --Themanii 01:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

So only edits to the Main namespace count, and edits to Category namespace do not count? Oh well, wishful thinking ^^ --Leuqarte 05:09, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

They really should, since this particular wiki does make heavy use (abuse?) of categories as full-featured articles. Disallowing points for them would seem to discourage this highly effective design. --Toksyuryel 05:53, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Is it only me it strikes as a bit odd, that Impossible to Gauge is the final stage, as it doesn't necessarily mean stronger than Incredibly tough? Working your way from "level 20" to potentially just "Bubbly Bernie" just seems weird to me. Trente 21:51, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

There really isn't a different between any level, you don't gain anything but a new wiki title. Its a sense of achievement for devoting your time to the wiki. Although there are the really dedicated folks out there who catches the eyes of us admins and we start handing out extra privileges to make editing the wiki a little easier. --CharitwoTalk 22:15, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
I think Impossible to Gauge fits fine. After all, it means you're not just an ordinary run of the mill monster: You're an NM, you're the best in your zone, you're SPECIAL, your average life span is about 5 seconds... ok, so two out of three ain't bad. --Urth 06:17, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Just made an interesting discovery- apparently minor edits don't count. --Toksyuryel 21:14, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Minor edits count (so long as they are in the main namespace). I wish the category namespace counted - but for technical reasons it doesn't. The categories are treated differently in the software - see at the bottom it doesn't show the recent editors for example. For what it's worth, we use our categories here differently than most wikis - which was a big, debated decision back in 2004 or '05 when we were getting started. --GAHOO t/ c 21:53, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh! *slaps his own face* I knew that, orz XD forgot that all of those were in the category space. For what it's worth, I think it was the right decision; using the categories like this is a very smart move. It is too bad the software didn't anticipate how useful they could be. --Toksyuryel 22:10, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I just noticed a problem. I tried and failed twice to upload an avatar. When I finally succeeded the third time in uploading one that meets the size requirements, I noticed that the point system counted every single attempt as though it were my first. I gained thousands just by pressing the "Upload" button. --MasterConjurer 00:52, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Points?

I have 1,150 points. By the chart, I need 50 more points to get to level 1. Yet on the main page, it says I need 121 more points. This doesn't make any sense >.< --ElPhantazmo 20:56, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Can you edit a page in the mainspace and see what happens to both your userlevel and the message on the main page? --CharitwoTalk 21:03, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
1,200 points(TWTBW); To advance to Level 1 earn 71 more points! o.O? --ElPhantazmo 22:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. I'll get this looked at. --CharitwoTalk 22:23, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Compensation for Hard Work

Edits are 50 points but why arn't there anything for creating an entirely new page? I've linked sets together for hours and only get a mere 50 points for it =/. Just curious if the team is going to add more ways to get points. We need compensation for our hardship! --Pyerzuka 16:43, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I think a better system would be one point for every new character added, subtracted, or changed. Most edits only go between 1-20 characters anyway. This way, people who created entirely new changes could make be most of it. This would also prevent people from spamming-up the logs of pages with the smallest of edits. Adding one word, saving it, going in, adding another word, saving it again... The current system actually makes me feel obligated to do this, as opposed to making all of my changes in one big edit. I don't know if it's possible to make the system like that, but it would really compensate for hard work.
Also, why the heck doesn't adding a new quiz question on the allegedly Never-Ending Quiz give you points? I personally added something like 200 questions, and I didn't get any reward for my hard work.

Other languages Wiki?

Will the other languages Wiki ever count in point system? Nours 01:06, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Additional Points!

Apparently there is a glitch in the system... I added a new avatar pic to my account and got another 1000 points! Khanton 20:33, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
