Historical Background
Hyperion was a Titan in Greek mythology who was associated with the Sun. More specifically, he is the god of observation. He is the father of Helios (god of the Sun), Selene (goddess of the Moon), and Eos (goddess of Dawn).
Hyperion is the name of one of the moons of Saturn. It was discovered by the Bond bros. and Lassell on September 16th, 1848. It is ~360km in diameter and has an irregular (non-spherical) shape. It has one of the most chaotic rotations in the solar system, meaning its orientation in space is very difficult to predict (its axis of rotation moves around). No other moon in the Sol solar system has chaotic rotation.
