Historical Information

Labrys is the term for a doubleheaded axe. Its symbolism appears in Minoan, Thracian, Greek, and Byzantine religion, mythology, and art, dating back to the Middle Bronze Age onwards. The labrys is also found in African religious symbolism and mythology. The labrys was formerly a symbol of Greek fascism, and today it is sometimes used as a symbol of Hellenic Neopaganism.
