Historical Background

Lachesis is one of the three Fates in Greek mythology, beings who created, measured, and cut the threads of life which determine the existence of every being, mortal and immortal. It is said even the gods feared the Fates. Lachesis was the middle aged one of the trio in some accounts and was the one who measured the thread of life, determining how long that being would exist (in other accounts, all three Fates are old crones). Her name means "allotter" or "drawer of lots". The other Fates are Clotho and Atropos, whose names adorn the other two orbs which can be obtained for BCNMs with 30 Kindred's Seals.
