Config Menu
In this menu, you have many options to configure your FFXI to your specifications.
Gameplay
- Auto-target during battle
- With this option "on", you will automatically lock on to targets in battle.
- Sound
- Allows you to separately adjust the sound effect and music volumes. Setting volume to "Min" turns sound off.
- Gamma Adjustment
- Allows you to adjust the RGB settings of the game to suit your monitor and personal preferences.
- Inventory Sort
- Toggles inventory auto-sorting. When set to "Auto", items will stack automatically upon entering your inventory.

Chat Filters
- See Chat Filters for details on the operation of the chat filter settings.
- On
- Messages of the specified type will not appear in your chat log.
- Hold
- Messages will be held for display at the top of your chat log for a few seconds, if your chat log is scrolling by with too many messages.
- Musical Note
- This is an option for Tells only. With this option, you will hear an audible chime when you receive a tell message.
- Off
- Messages will be received normally.

Font Colors
- Chat
- Displays the different types of chat texts whose color you can alter.
- For Self
- Displays the different types of battle messages that apply to your character whose color you can alter.
- For Others
- Displays the different types of battle messages that apply to other characters whose color you can alter.
- System
- Displays the different types of system messages whose color you can alter.
- Default
- Restores your color scheme to the original FFXI defaults.

Windows
- Log Window
- This menu allows you to set the display options for your chat log.
- Reactive window sizing
- When "on", your chat log will resize itself depending on your chat activity.
- Maximum lines displayed
- The largest number of lines your log will display before moving old messages out of the display.
- Minimum lines displayed
- The smallest number of lines your log will display, if your chat remains inactive.
- Resize Time
- The amount of time you remain inactive before the window begins to resize itself.
- Window Type
- Determines the background theme of your chat log and menus (transparent, metallic, etc.)

Misc.
- Damage Display
- If set to "log", damage is displayed in your chat log. If set to "screen" damage will be displayed above the target's head.
- Character Information
- If "hide" is selected, functions exactly like the "/anon" command.
- Shadows
- Determines your preferences for shadows. The higher this is set, the more resources the game will use.
- Weather Effects
- Toggles graphical weather effects. If set to "off", weather icons will still be displayed next to the clock.
- Character Models Displayed
- Determines how many characters your system will load at one time. Obviously, the more you display, the more resources will be needed to display them.

Misc. 2
- Clipping Plane
- Adjust the graphic clipping plane. Minimum displays the least, but uses the least amount of resources.
- Footstep Effects
- Toggles footstep sounds and footprints.
- Animation Frame Rate
- Adjust frame rate. Lower settings use less resoures.
- Keyboard Type
- Allows you to switch between Full-size (with NumPad) and Compact keyboard (without NumPad) types.
- Background Aspect Ratio
- Allows you to change your BAR, if you have a widescreen or other non-standard monitor resolution.
- Key Assignment
- Allows you to manually assign keyboard commands.

Effects
- Off
- Displays effect animations, such as weapon skills, spells, job abilities or TP moves of monsters.
- On
- Turns effect animations off for the selected type.
- →
- Arrow indicates who is targeting whom with the ability or spell. Example; Monster → Party are effects that monsters use on party members. By turning this filter on, you will not see the animations for abilities that target party members (but you may still see animations for abilities targetted on you, other monsters, or non-party PCs).

Mouse/Cam.
- Mouse Control
- "Type 1" control uses the mouse cursor as the point of reference for movement. "Type 2" uses your character as the point of reference.
- Screen Edge Panning
- When set to "on", the mouse will cause the camera to rotate if held at the edge of the screen.
- Camera View
- Sets the camera to normal third-person view (which can move the camera angle) or fixes the camera to chase your character.
- Third-Person Camera
- Allows you to invert the X or Y axis when in Third-Person mode.
- First-Person Camera
- Allows you to invert the X or Y axis when in First-Person mode.

Global
- Language Filter
- Toggles the adult language filter. When "on", it will replace common swear words with "????" in the chat log.
- Auto-Disconnect
- Sets the amount of idle time you wish before you want the game to automatically log you off. By selecting "Off" the game will never disconnect you because of being idle (only from connection trouble).
