Historical Background

It is unclear what a charuq is nor where its origins lay. However, one likely possibility is that like other pieces of Blue Mage artifact armor, it comes originally from Persia. The shoes worn by the peasants of northern Persia were called charuk. Charuks were shapeless primitive boots made of rawhide or partly tanned leather held on the foot by string.
