Historical Background
Morion/Morion Quartz is a dark-brown to opaque black variety of Smoky Quartz (itself a brown, transparent variety of Quartz) which results from irradiation (natural or artificial) of Milk Quartz which contains aluminum. Morion is uncommon, though not rare. It forms next to uranium deposits. Basically, Morion is a black quartz. Its color explains why Square-Enix gave it the gray Worm model when that color palette was added into FFXI. Amethyst, Citrine, are other varieties of Quartz that are given names due to their different color. Scotland is a noted source of Morion.
