Historical Background

In Norman folklore (the Normans were Vikings who settled in the Normandy region of France and later invaded and conquered England in 1066 CE), Rongeur D'os is the local equivalent of the Black Dog who presages the death of someone. It is similar to the English Barghest. Rongeur D'os is French for "bones rodent", but is generally used to mean "bone gnawers".
