Sirocco, scirocco, jugo or, rarely, siroc is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe. Scirocco and Sirocco are Italian names from which the Greek word for the wind, "σιρόκος" (sirokos), is derived.
