Sirocco, scirocco, jugo or, rarely, siroc is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe. Scirocco and Sirocco are Italian names deriving from the Greek word for the wind, "σιρόκος" (sirokos).
