Notes:

  • Spawns at the start of Dynamis. He is located at the tunnel near the Behemoth's Dominion exit (E-5).
  • Defeating him will remove Antaeus' per-hit damage cap, which limits both magic and melee attacks to a maximum of 100 damage per hit. Melees using one-handed weapons and multi-hit weapon skills are not affected much by the damage cap, as their per-hit damage is relatively low to begin with.
  • One strategy to defeating him is to have a thief pull him back to the alliance waiting in the tunnel area and zerg him down. During this zerg its best for ALL Mage type jobs to spam cure their parties. A good alliance can usually defeat this boss anywhere from 40 seconds to 1 min 40 seconds. Any longer than this and a wipe is most likely to occur due to lack of MP.

Historical Background

Suttung was the son of Gilling, and was a Jotun in Norse mythology. Both of Suttung's parents were killed by the dwarves Fjalar and Galar. To keep Suttung from killing them, they offered him a magical mead, which he took and hid in the middle of a mountain. His daughter, Gunnlod, was made to guard the mead. Odin later came and persuaded Gunnlod to allow him three sips, but he tricked her and drank the whole thing. Odin then changed into an eagle and flew off, with Suttung giving chase.
