Talk:Attack Boost

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

I think Berserk should be handled separately, as it's a single status that combines an Attack bonus and a Defense penalty. When a Bomb uses it, the logs say "XXX gains the effect of Berserk". Last Resort also combines attack bonus and defense down. --Valyana 18:31, 1 March 2006 (PST)

When you select Berserk from the effects on the top of the screen, is the description "berserk" or "attack up"? --Chrisjander 15:59, 2 March 2006 (PST) "Berserk" --Zero 17:11, 2 March 2006 (PST)

It's "Berserk". And Warcry gives "Warcry", and Defender gives "Defender", and Boost gives "Boost", and Dodge gives "Dodge".

In general, all Job Abilities give a status with the same name. Sometimes monsters have abilities that give the same effects; Bombs and Sheep both have a Berserk effect, Dolls have a Warcry effect, Yovra have a Boost effect.

The only actual Attack Boost status I'm aware of in the game is from Sharp Strike. And it's spelled like that, not "Up". --Valyana 11:25, 3 March 2006 (PST)

I've seen scorpions with an ability that gives Attack Boost, and since we're putting monster abilities in here, the page will stay, it just needs to edit the job abilities out. Maybe I should make another section "Effects that include <name of status effect>" so that I have a place for Songs and abilities like Berserk that include two existing effects. What do you think? --Chrisjander 13:18, 3 March 2006 (PST)

Yes, the scorpion ability is what I was referring to above.

I think a "Related Effects" section is a good idea. I wouldn't say "include", because Berserk is a single effect, not two. --Valyana 17:46, 3 March 2006 (PST)
