proc rate
I believe that Barparalyzra reduces the chance that being paralyzed will actually have an effect. In particular, I remember some goblins in dynamis-beauc. that use an AoE paralyze. After encountering them a few times I started putting up barparalyzra, and even as brd/whm with half-level enhancing magic skill, it became much easier to paralyna myself without paralysis interrupting my casting, and I was significantly more likely to be able to finish singing buff songs that I had started when the paralyze hit me. I think the spell is underestimated because people expect it to reduce the duration of the effect and/or prevent you from acquiring the effect to begin with, whereas part, or perhaps all of what it does is to prevent the paralysis from "proc"ing as often. --Asanarama 04:09, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
resist rates
Going to clearify something I noticed on all "barspell" pages here for status effect spells. "This spell only decreases the time that the negative status effect stays on the player." is not 100% correct. Barparalyzra does help your resistance to Paralyze and it also decreases the time the status effect stays on you. When combined with their respective elemental barspell, it gives great resistance to the effect.
Example: Use Barparalyzra and Barblizzara on the people not in front fire aoe range while fighting Cerberus. Why? You party will have a great chance of resisting the AOE effects of Paralyze from Cerberus.
I tested this out extensively in Dynamis; my entire party almost always will resist AOE status effects from mobs. Yes melee with weak magic defensive stats too. The mages have a far greater chance due to their natural stats obviously. Baraera + Barsilencera = great silence resistance vs silencega birds (so does sleeping or silencing them lol) Barblizzara + Barparalyze = great against slimes and their paralyze AOE
