In regards to the comments on the historical background: One use for this piece of equipment may not be to escape from battle, but simply to improve speed in safe areas--- (equip boots) + (stoneskin, blink, convert) = very fast RDM.

Enemy Attacks

I don't think that RDM travel thing would work, as the latent triggers on an enemy attack, according to the latent description.--Anselme 17:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm almost certain that the latent kicks in while youre dying, and facing away. A caitiff is a prisoner, and when I used these years ago, they kicked in when i was running away. No sense in activating flee if you are fighting!
