Determining the price of a rental chocobo

I have payed VERY careful attention to my chocobo prices and I have long observed it to be directly based off of your level and the number of chocobos recently rented. There are essentially three different numbers that are calculatated and added together to determine your final price. There are 3 different groups of chocobo rentals, "city", "jeuno", and "crag" (in order from cheapest to most expensive). Each of these groups defines three components: a base price, a level modifier, and a usage modifier. The base price essentially sets the floor for the cost of the chocobo- the price will never go below this value. The level modifier is multiplied by 20 less than your level and then added to the base price. The usage modifier is multiplied by the number of people who have recently rented a chocobo from that stable and then added to generate your final price. The value for the number of people who have recently rented a chocobo from that stable goes down at regular and deliberate intervals. It is NOT a measure of how many people currently are riding chocobos rented from that stable.

This is very easy to test if you have the time, which occassionaly I did. I was able to determine the modifiers for the "city" group, however I have not bothered with "jeuno" or "crag" yet, as they seem just a bit too hard (many people renting all the time, next to impossible to determine what the base price is). I was able to determine these values for the "city" group: base price: 60 level modifier: 1 usage modifier: 7. I have a hunch that the level modifier for jeuno is 2, but I can't be sure. It's worth noting that each chocobo stable in jeuno counts as a seperate stable, and each maintains its own indipendant value for how many people have recently rented. If you find that on your way to your next Crawler's Nest party the Lower Jeuno Chocobo Stables are charging highway robbery prices, you might find it in your interest to check the price in Upper Jeuno- people tend to rent from there more rarely, and because of the bridges you can very quickly get into Rolanberry Fields and lose maybe half a minute. --Toksyuryel 11:01, 3 December 2006 (EST)
