Banish potency
Does anybody know the extent of the "enhanced Banish potency"? I've tested it a few times and it does not in any case seem to improve the spell damage... Maybe it increases the duration/power of the defense lowering attribute; has anyone tested this? --Eithin 06:04, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
While I don't have any actual numbers, a LS mate and I tested it out on the ghosts in KRT. It lowered the defense a little on ghosts but didn't seem to do anything on bones or undead dogs. We tested with and without them equipped. Without them on mobs checked as high defense with staff equiped @ capped whm skill of 230. With hands on mobs check normal defense with staff equiped so it lowered them slightly enough to fall down one level. With club equipped, capped whm 256 skill, I saw no change; they stayed at normal defense both times. I'm guessing the defense down trait of banish is only effected very little. I didn't do a detailed testing; it was just "hey lets see if it does!" kind of testing. We saw no damage increase on Banish III or Banishga II. I would guess it enhances the lowering defense effect on certain types of defensive undead mobs; like ghosts (i.e. Bogy) and Jnun --Bekisa 11:55, 4 August 2007 (CDT)
Banish shouldn't ever lower what the undead mob's defense checks. That simply isn't what [Banish] does. "Lowers special defense (damage resistance) of Skeletons and Ghosts by 50% for 15 seconds." (from the [Banish] page) refers to the damage resitances that undead mobs tend to have to certain [damage types]. for example: Skeleton type monsters have these damage modifiers: 1.125 to H2H Blunt, 1.25 to Impact Blunt, 0.875 to Slashing, and 0.50 to piercing, The [damage type] resistance for slashing and piercing are raised to 1.0 for a short time if the monster takes damage from a Banish spell. So you will never notice a difference from /check because /check is for [Defense] which is a completely different stat.--NOiSEA 03:23, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
