Talk:Crustacean Conundrum

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

My strat:

  • RDM x3, 2 subbing nin and 1 subbing pup for grins.
  • Buff with enthunder, protect, boiled crab. Each RDM using platoon daggers.
  • Start off with a timed bind/silence/bind on the crabs.
  • Kill the Heavy Metal Crab. Pray that he doesn't endrain much.
  • Then, kill his friends in the same manner.
  • We are 8-for-9 using this strategy. I can see using a nin/war shadows to stabilize the "luck" factor of Heavy Metal Crab incessantly draining HP, which caused our one and only wipe (he drained 5 of 6 hits...)

A similar strategy:

Another strategy:

  • RDM/NIN x 2
  • NIN/WAR x 1
  • Have the RDM's buff with Enthunder, Protect, and Shell on the entire party after entering, then rest to full MP.
  • With full MP, have the NIN provoke and kite the Heavy Metal Crab as well as a Metal Crab while the RDM's cast dia and engage the other.
  • Cure the NIN periodically - the crabs will both eat shadows away quickly and leave no time to recast Utsusemi.
  • When one crab dies, move on to the other Metal Crab, and finally the Heavy Metal Crab.
  • Rolanberry Pies were used for the RDMs, NIN did not consume food.

Did this twice with two MNK's, one subbed /WAR. Go in, both monks use Dodge. One Monk gets aggro on all three crabs. The other monk follows and provokes one of the weak ones to distribute tanking. Both Monks engage Heavy Metal Crab and use Hundred Fists. Use Hi-Potions to stay alive. 5-6 hi-potions each is enough. The main crab will die during your 2hours. Target another one and just keep killing.

You don't need to be well geared, I was wearing Santa cap and a nation aketon. Just get a H2H weapon with as low delay as possible.

Used mithkabob one run and sushi another run, didn't seem to make any difference. If you're only doing one run for the mannequin body, this is an easy strat since you only need 2 people.
