Talk:Crustacean Conundrum/Strategies

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

I was the one who editted in the RDM + RDM + PLD strategy. Just to elaborate, my party is 3/3 so far with that strategy. It takes a bit of focus but provided everyone is curing each other, it works wonders. Invincible prevents the Drain effect from ever taking effect provided it's up. To make things a bit safer, it wouldn't hurt for everyone to have a Yagudo drink or another juice to recover MP. As for normal food... I'm not really sure what my party used last time, but if I had to guess, accuracy or evasion is what one should probably go for. Xauna 11:14, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

Okay. 4/5 now. One flaw in this strategy is that the PLD must use the ability when the Heavy Metal Crab is actually attacking him. It wears off too early if it is used too early. It is also imperitive that nobody panic when it's down; it's bound to drop before or just after the HMC's death. In this strategy, everyone can cure themselves, so just watch everyone's back. Chainspell is also helpful for throwing a decent number of cures. It was suggested by one of my party that we should not worry about using Bind so much once the lesser Metal Crabs are unbound, but we didn't get to test out his idea, so your mileage may vary. It should do without saying that the one loss we suffered was because of Invincible being poorly timed. To lessen the period of wait time between attempts, if Besieged is in progress, join up and pop the Revitalizer temporary item as soon as you get in; it resets all job abilities, including two-hours. Of course, you can't expect Besieged to happen at your will so if you want to try multiple attempts using this strategy, it's generally a good idea to plan your day ahead. The two-hour wait is also a good time for whoever gets to lot the Mannequin Body(it is assumed this is why most people do this BCNM) to do as they wish for it; either to pop over to a popular Bazaar area(Rolanberry Fields on my server) and attempt to sell it there, or finish the quest that uses it.
