Talk:Drachen Greaves

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

I thought that the effect to Jumps was a better chance of the Jump being a crit? Reinhardt

With the new ability Spirit Surge it may increase the bonus effects of the jumps as well --Poof 15:51, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

"Enhances Jump Effects"

The problem with previous tests was that ATK caps on level 0 mobs. I tested this in Oct.08 and proved that Drachen greaves give a 10% atk boost to jumps. Details here. http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=14;mid=1224301995251179352;num=16;page=1 Updating page. --Byxfluzba 23:41, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

If you go to my discussion under jump I have come to the conclusion that the 50% VIT modifier is not 100%, and this may be the "enhancement" that drachen greaves is referring to, NOT critical hit. Now this could be commonly mistaken as a critical hit because of the damage both of them adds, unlike double attack or triple attack, you would not see any difference in TP. So in my tests, my hit was 330, critical hit was 330, jumps varied from 330 to 420 with 67 VIT/92DMG weapon, now if you add half of my VIT to my weapon thats about a 1/3 increase, note that 330 -> 420 is also 33%. Note: Critical hits ALWAYS hit for 330 also, because it was maxed out on a too weak mob. Double attacks did 750, which oddly enough is 330+420. Note: This was when STR modifier was broken, which is why my crits easily hit for the same as max dmg, like CourieCarrie does versus twtbw mobs Basically, if the VIT mod was 100% I would have never done 330 jumps. Logic says that people are looking at the increased damage wrong, thinking that the vit mod is a crit hit Thats like saying when you have DA that drachen greaves increases the rate of double attack, to me. So the only logical explanation is that it increases the effect of JUMP, which is the VIT mod, and by effect, it means rate.

Someone might take that seriously. --Bsphil 20:39, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

Discussed recently (October 2008) in a JP guidebook on weapon/armor latents, translated by Elmerthepointy of BlueGartr found that via JP testing, the enhancement on the Drachen Greaves is ATT+10% for the Jump.Miraun

Also keep in mind that the Drachen Greaves state "Enhances Jump Effects". I'm saying this because Wyrm Brais state "Enhances High Jump Effect" in comparison. Which, personally, would state the enhancement of both Jump and High Jump. --Eli 01:37, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

A potentially worthwhile examination, although this wouldn't be the first time SE is merely inconsistent in what they write on armor descriptions. Brutal Earring says "Enhances 'Double Attack' effect" which is DA+5%, WAR AF feet say the same but give DA+1%, WAR relic legs say "Double Attack+1", and Pole Grip says "Double Attack+2%". MNK AF legs used to say "Counterattack"+1 (which meant Counter+1), whereas Avenger's Earring has always said "Counter"+1.--Bsphil 05:50, October 24, 2009 (UTC)
