Talk:Energy Steal
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
Innaffective against Undead. I only say this because it's the only mp stealing technique that doesn't say it. I was curious since it didn't say, so I tested it since similarly mobs "immune to sleep" are not immune to say Pinecone Bomb sleep effect. Storme 07:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
As a point of interest, unlike other aspir effects, when you use Energy Steal, it lists the amount drained and not the amount recovered, i.e. If you are missing, 5 MP and steal 35 with energy steal, it will say 35 MP unlike Aspir which will say 5 MP drained. Can anyone tell me the difference between Energy Steal and Energy Drain? One says it 'steals' MP and the other says it 'drains' it, but that suggests to me that both take it from the monster and give it to the attacker. Can anyone correct or confirm my suspicions?
I'm also curious. I want to know if a mob needs to have MP (crabs, etc.) in order for these WS to work.
I've used Energy Steal, and when a mob has MP, I can use this WS to take MP away from the mob and give it to me. I'm not high enough to use energy Drain yet thou, so i'm not sure what it does that's different. Maybe the effect is higher. Oh, and when I use this on a mob without MP, it goes off, but it says I drained 0 MP. --Chrisjander 12:49, 8 March 2006 (PST)
I have used both and other than the amount you drain I have never been able to discern another difference. --Gahoo 14:57, 8 March 2006 (PST)
If the mob can be aspired; then this WS will drain MP. --Hanyoko 10:15, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
This weapon skill has to have modifiers. I used it at 100% TP and it gave me 37 MP, then I used it again at 200% TP and get 56 MP, 300% I get 74 MP. Occasionally at 200% TP it'll only steal for 27 MP instead of 56 MP. Modifiers seem to be (100% TP = 1.0) (200% TP = 1.5) (300% TP = 2.0). Confirmation needed please. --Tataru 12:32, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Confirmed 1.0/1.5/2.0 mod and removed verification --Xjam 11:55, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
