Talk:Evoker's Spats
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
Should a note be made regarding the typo in the English translation about these being "Avatar: -enmity" rather than straight player -enmity? It's been confirmed a few times, please note: http://killingifrit.com/forums.php?m=posts&p=3093004#3093004 ~ Bleuey ~ Talk!contr. 12:11, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- Added a note at the bottom to explain this. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 12:29, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- Shouldn't the notes discussing this on the article page, be moved to this Discussion page? -- May 29th, 2008.
- The Enmity reduction is for the Avatar. The image displays an in-game mistranslation. This is confirmed from the Japanese version.
- notes: the enmity display is just same as on the picture, I did test with Japanese person today, and he told me same as what it's display. (6/1/2008)
- I support this statement. I use the Japanese client and there is no indication that the enmity down effect applies to the avatar. (11th March 2008).
- The Japanese version says "Avatars: Accuracy up Enmity-2, and it has been confirmed several times it applies to the avatarsand not the summoner having an avatar out. See Evoker's Doublet and Horn for comparison, the English formulation is not exact.
- Do you or anyone else have a link to extensive testing? Seems pretty clear to me it's Summoner -Enmity, not Avatar. --JTimmons 19:17, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Any reliable Japanese information site can confirm this for anyone still having doubts. The Japanese text here is quite clear, could the anonymous person from March say how they understood it? I'm curious. For reference, the FFXIGlossary describes the set as giving Enmity-11 to Avatars, hence partly preventing Avatars from tanking for the summoner:
さて、性能はと言うと、AF中でも屈指の微妙性能である。エボカースパッツのみ使用に耐えうるものとしての認識が大半である。全部位装備するとMP+80と大きくブースト出来るものの、召喚獣の敵対心を11も下げてしまう。召喚獣は矛であり盾でもあるため、唯でさえ打たれ弱い召喚士本人が、敵のターゲットを自分に向ける危険性のあるこの部分に目を瞑る訳にはいかない。
Also, I dug up the link to that SE interview in 2005 where it was confirmed the Enmity- stats refer to the avatar, not the Summoner.FFXI Stratics: One of the biggest debates in the summoner community deals with the stat found on the artifact armor "avatar: enmity: -". Who receives this effect?
Sage Sundi: The enmity status is related to the avatar, not to the summoner. It's useful to use "avatar: enmity+" when you want your avatar to keep the hate.
I think that should be sufficient reference, although I thought this had been known for years. -- Nashreen 14:09, 14 June 2008 (JST)

As of the last update, the french descriptions for Evoker's Spats and Evoker's Pigaches have been slightly altered, they now have Avatar : accuracy +, enmity-2 on the same line, (Avatar : Evasion +, enmity-2 for the pigaches). I don't know about the german and english versions though, but it was made clear in the french version. Lionne 09:40, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
