Formula
I'm not sure where to say this, but I figured under the discussion of your first Helix spell would help: this formula is a little off. Anyone who's atleast taken algebra knows that this formula is very sloppy in structure, but it also neglects a lot of factors and has an unnecessary calculation that has been an eyesore for me since I've seen it (how is -1 and then +25 any different from simply +24?) -- who created this formula? At any rate, after killing many Tunnel Worms I've come to the conclusion that, although the formula is correct (if it were cleaned up), it doesn't take Elemental Staves, Day of the Week, Resistance, Magic Defense Bonus, or Target Magic Damage Adjustment into consideration (perhaps a link to Calculating Magic Damage would help), nor does it include INT's soft cap (which said worms have helped me find). This is what I've come to believe is the final formula:
- Let dINT = Caster's INT - Target's INT
- If dINT is less than 80, then D = dINT+24
- If dINT is equal to or more than 80, then D = floor((dINT-79)/2+103)
- Floor each of the following:
- D*resist*Staff Bonus*Day|Weather Bonus*(MAB/MDB)*Magic Damage Adjustment
- Note1: Day|Weather Bonus has a 100% proc. rate.
- Note2: I can't be sure, but I assume Ebullience's *1.2 comes at the end.
It would help if someone could help me out and implement this in a clean, simple fashion. Again, linking to Calculating Magic Damage might help people tons. Malumultimus 13:42, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
