Talk:Jaggedy-Eared Jack

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

I've consistantly popped this guy at exact intervals of 1 hour 15 minutes 3 times today.

Theories

PAYBACKRanger

  • I have found him spawn in MANY areas through the circled area in the map. As stated by LionHeart, mostly in the Eastern square, and for me more towards the mountain ridge point, just north of the gob camp. I have however, also seen him near the outpost, at the gate that is south and east of the outpost itself, just at the top of the hill line, like right near the gate. Never seen him down the hill as LionHeart has suggested that he might, but will more than likely NOT appear there.
I have however seen a lot of rabbits there, and if he's a lottery pop, then he should appear here as well. I will keep looking.
I have also seen him appear kinda behind and north of the outpost, oddly enough. In that small area just north and west of the outpost, kinda hidden from view a bit, but he was there! Tricky, sneaky little buggar.
I usually follow a complete line circle around the entire spawn area, swinging my camera view in all directions, even behind me, and where I knew I JUST went, for you never know, the rabbit place holder MIGHT have just respawned, but have JeJ in place of him.

  • Note the time and conditions: 21:48, and VERY clear. Jaggedy-Eared jack is not a morning-only/fog-only NM :P ((This is in reference to a screenshot posted of Jaggedy-Eared Jack))
  • As far as waiting time goes.... I suggest 2 hours. Longest Jack usually goes without being seen is 3 hours--buts thats probably because people just miss him.

Ashkente's testimony

I have been testing most of these theories today, well, the ones that consistently match up with other NM spawn-rates/habits. The Wide Scan order of Goblin, Orc, Enchanted Bones(only at night), Forest Hare, Carrion Worm, Forest Funguar, Scarab Beetle, I can personally confirm. I only killed the third bunny each time, from that group, every five minutes, and he spawned without fail, at around the 1hr mark (time not consistent due to my own user error/afk/bathroom breaks, etc.) When competition arrived after 3 successful spawn cycles, and killed every single bunny in the area, spawn time leapt up to over two hours.
This is further fueling my own theories on non-PH's causing spawn delays, to be posted at a later date.

Is the non-PH's spawn delay more noticeable at night for you?

--Sirtet 02:26, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Not that I noticed, next time I go back there, I'll double-check.
