Weird Damage?

Was Fighting JoH with my Linkshell, and a few times (almost every single time i got Hit) with Thundaga III in his Instant Cast mode i would take only Double Digit DMG (1~99), sometimes 100~150. I Was on THF with no Thunder Resistance gear, and it happened more then once while my PLD's with Barthunder and Shell were getting wasted.

Only thing i could think was that the first time i was behind the PLD and the second i wasn't facing the NM... I could have just got Extremely lucky and resisted Thundaga III 3 or 4 times, But i dont know - Karbuncle, Asura
