A couple of us in my LS decided to try this yesterday. You're charged about 500 gil for entry, and given a "party pack" of temporary items (they don't take up gobbiebag space, so don't worry about having enough room). Basically the items are one each of a bunch of fireworks, one each of the rice cakes that give you a little girl costume, one each of the mochi for the little boy costumes, and most interestingly, one each of several different types of food items.

This is a good way to see the effects of a bunch of different foods, and the attendants will remove food effects so you can try them all out. I didn't make a list of all the foods, but amongst them were Goblin Drink, Vampire Juice, Red Curry, Yellow Curry, Black Curry, Dusky Indulgence, Black Pudding, Chocomilk, Elysian Eclair, Sylvan Excursion, Prime Beef Stewpot, Prime Crab Stewpot, Prime Seafood Stewpot, most of the different juices, and several teas.

Other than that, it's a very boring space - sort of like the Auction House areas, with no Auction House counters. Just a couple boxes you can stand on. Any food effect you have active when you leave the hostel is removed as you exit.
