Talk:Link
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
Could anyone give some more details on linking:
- max distance from the original mob to his friend at which linking can happen? is it the same as regular aggro range, and depends if the mob is sound/sight? - will the link happen regardless of how far the link is from the player? - for sight mobs, the friendly mob has to be looking in the direction of the original mob? - do the links despawn if the person who pulled the original mob dies/zones even if his party is still there? how about if the pull was done by a pet, etc? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mmoroz (talk • contribs).
Generally, a monster will link in the same way it aggros. Sound mobs will come along if you get their buddy within sound range. Sight mobs will come along if they actually see it. I don't remember any off the top of my head, but there are only one or two types of monsters that will link on sight/sound and just aggro on sight. For the most part, you can assume that if a mob links, it will do so with respect to its aggro range/type. For monsters that don't aggro, treat it like a mob in the same family (low level crawlers don't aggro, but higher level ones aggro on sound. all crawlers link on sound). I generally assume link on sound unless I've seen it behave otherwise. --Murbella 19:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
