I'm pretty sure this is a lottery spawn for the Scimitar Scorpion. I spent some time farming these guys and once I got a Scimitar instead of a Mine scorp on the third floor. --Anobi 01:20, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure if it's actually a lottery spawn. The Mine Scorpions are certainly placeholders for the Scimitar Scorpion; however, it seems like when the scorpions respawn that one Scimitar Scorpion always respawns with them. --Taitu 16:54, 7 April 209 (EST)

I don't quite know how many of these things we have to kill to prove it's a lottery, and neither do I know what the chance of a Scimitar appearing is. If it's a small chance, then the fact that only one appears regularly could just be luck. Alternatively, the Scimitar could really be limited to just one spawn per map, even though it says two on its wiki page, which would explain why only one would spawn at a time. I am glad that I have attracted the attention of someone who might be able to answer these questions. From my experience, 1 out of 4 kills was a Scimitar, but I did not take a larger sample due to inventory limitations. If anyone else has more information, I would appreciate if you commented.
