Talk:Minstrel's Ring

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

I've noticed recently that on BRD/NIN I get Minstrel's Ring latent active below 76%, rather than 75%. So with max HP of 1316, latent is active at 1000 HP. Which is handy, as it means I don't get cured to full all the time. --Valyana 22:57, 27 December 2006 (EST)

The % that your 3rd party program is showing you is nigh irrelevant. If you're in yellow HP or below, and less than 100% TP, the latent will be applied. --Chrisjander 01:19, 28 December 2006 (EST)

This has nothing to do with any 3rd party program, I'm talking about calculating 76% of my max HP and noticing that I get the Fast Cast effect from the ring between 75% and 76% even though I'm not in yellow HP. 76% of 1316 is 1000.16, and I get the latent at 1000 but not at 1001. This isn't useful with WHM sub because of Auto-Regen, but it's quite useful with NIN or RDM sub. --Valyana 14:40, 9 January 2007 (EST)

Fair enough. --Chrisjander 15:17, 9 January 2007 (EST)

Convert HP to MP

The bullet I added to this article is supported by a thread about the Sorcerer's Ring:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=3;mid=118716685718061004;num=16;page=1
The author specifically mentions Minstrel's Ring and Medicine Ring.

I have tested the Medicine Ring and posted my results on the Talk:Medicine Ring page, but I haven't tested the Minstrel's Ring personally.

However, I felt it was important to call attention to this before a BRD attempts what I did; even if it isn't true, I'd rather flag it as a danger just in case. I'll put on the "verification" icon next to my bullet for now. --TheRya 08:56, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Tested: at 977/1299 HP (75.2%) latent is active. Putting on Zenith Mitts changes this to 977/1249 (78.2%) and latent is not active. --Valyana 15:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Also not active at 962/1259 (76.4%) with Zenith Mitts. --Valyana 16:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
