I think that phrase is just for fun, to explain "how" the item achieves its increased evasion effect. However, I do think the 'gradually' is significant; I think it means that this only activates when the target's HP is 50% or less - Hiachi 13:48, 4 November 2006 (EST)

It's probably safe to assume the pattern reader is consistent with the heat seeker, in that it gives you +1 evasion per second while you have a wind maneuver. However, when this effect expires is still unclear. --Karl1982 12:32, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
