If Hand-to-Hand's base damage (i.e., no weapon equipped) "has no weapon rank", how is fSTR calculated, cap-wise? As weapon rank 0?--Dragonspight 02:27, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

That explains the weapon rank when a weapon is equipped. I want to know whether it pertains to bare hands as well.--Dragonspight 09:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
This page says "fSTR's lower and upper cap values are affected by weapon rank" but it doesn't say how exactly it affects it. Does it randomly choose a number between the lower and upper cap to use as fSTR, similar to pDIF, and if that is the case, where does STR come in? --Auraeon 00:17, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
^ I was under the impression that fSTR lower and upper caps are the levels where stacking on or taking away STR will cease to make any difference on your melee and ranged attacks. example - If your fSTR upper cap is 10 (like on Blau Dolch), and we assume that for simplicity's sake that every fSTR tier is 4 STR, then we come to the conclusion that any additional STR added that is >40 more than the monsters VIT value isn't doing a thing. The other side of the coin is that the floor on Blau Dolch is -2, meaning that if we have >-8 STR (assuming each tier is still 4STR) than a monsters VIT is the same thing as being -8STR compared to the monsters VIT. Order of Operations
A clarification please?
fSTR2 = (dSTR+4)/2 where dSTR = your STR - target's VIT
fSTR = fSTR2/2 = [(dSTR+4)/2]/2 = (dSTR+4)/4 = (your STR - target's VIT + 4)/4
That +4 modifier isn't tied to the VIT, is it? If the formula were as written above, it would actually be in favour of the attacker, not the defender. However, if the +4 is tied to VIT, then it favours the defender. Which is it? For me, it's a difference of needing STR 107 or STR 115 to cap fSTR, so I just want to be sure. --Dawnfairy 10:36, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
