Talk:Scanner
From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia
Dissallowing the Automaton from casting nukes seems to go against what the description says. Does anyone know if its simply a innaccurate comment on the item, or if it is really a glitch and that the Scanner is really only meant to make the Automaton cast the nuke whose element corresponds with the target's weakness? Also, if the latter is true, has the glitch been fixed yet? - Hiachi 12:23, 20 November 2006 (EST)
I'm the only one befuddled by this? :/ - Hiachi 00:22, 20 December 2006 (EST)
As of the December 2006 update, the scanner now functions as the description says. Tahngarthor 04:43, 22 December 2006 (EST)
Post-December Update I have had an exp pt that I used my Stormwaker and Scanner in. Just as the page says, the Scanner worked as the description said rather than how it did before the update. However, just yesterday I used Stormwaker for only the second time in an exp pt since that update, and that time Scanner simply disabled my Automaton from being able to cast nukes, just as it did pre-patch. I don't know what's going on, maybe the recent patch brought back the old glitch? - Hiachi 12:54, 8 February 2007 (EST)
Does it maybe disable nukes if the mob has no specific weakness or if the automaton hasn't got the spell? Coz I had the same problem as Hiachi about 3 weeks ago and i've not tried to use my scanner since... --Cerwin 18:59, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
It seems to function as intended if you don't have any ice maneuvers up. I noticed that if I used ice maneuvers, it would stop nuking. However I'm PUP60 now and it's been a while since I used the Stormwaker head and scanner. Maybe I'll do some research later. --Karl1982 20:31, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Added this as drop to Troll Machinist, but this page says "crafted only" under "how to obtain". I don't know how to fix it. ^^; Maybe someone else could do it?
