Raging Rush route
The fight will be quick, but its all or nothing. You must have a current great axe skill so you can use Raging Rush. You will need pure DD gear, and attack food (coeurl sub is the best food you can get at that level). You will need to use the opo-opo necklace, sleeping potions, and a wing for the TP boost. If both Raging Rush connects, you will win, but if one or both do not connect its back to Gustav for another testimony. I strongly recommend this fight on Windsday or Lightningday to get the full benefits of fragmentation. A successful encounter against Maat should look something like this (I used berserk + aggressor + mighty strikes + warcry in that order):

I easily beat him yesterday as WAR70 using this method. I used a Pendragon Axe, fairly standard DD gear, and a Meat Chiefkabob. Of course, I also used the standard Opo-opo Necklace trick.
Berserk->Aggressor->Warcry->Mighty Strikes->Raging Rush(~1800)->Icarus Wing->Raging Rush(~950)=Fragmentation(~450) And he dropped like a sack of Popotos. b(^_^)d Keneth 00:51, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Galkan WAR70 using Axe
My fight was kind of risky. All I used was my normal DD gear, Opo-opo Necklace, Blink Band and of course an Icarus Wing. I did not use a Spartan Hoplon, nor did I have any HP potions; I recommend those items for any WAR who hasn't got a decent amount of HP and/or defense.
Gear setup was... Nadziak, Blink Band, Haubergeon, Fourth Gauntlets/Pallas's Bracelets, Fighter's Cuisses, Fighter's Calligae, Chivalrous Chain, Potent Belt, Amemet Mantle +1, Woodsman Ring/Sun Ring and Coral Earring. Food used was an accidental Meat Mithkabob (instead of a Squid Sushi). With this setup I missed Maat a few times, but still managed to defeat him, although he did get me down to a very risky 309 HP.
