Talk:Siege Bat

added weak to Ice after our Ice attacks did more damage than wind if some-one could test further please. --Daveie 21:46, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Which ice attacks? The spell Blizzard has a naturally higher damage cap than Aero. Usually weakness is determined, not through the amount of damage taken, but by the rate at which spells are resisted (mob taking half normal spell damage or less). --Chrisjander t/ c 22:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

It was Blizaga and Aeroaga the BLM in my party said about how he always found that using the element strong to the crystal dropped did more damage, personally I don't use element magic so I don't know these details --Daveie 16:00, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Blizzaga's base damage is much higher than Aeroga, so that could show certain differences in damage. Weakness refers to whether the base damage is resisted (mob takes half normal damage, quarter normal damage, eighth etc.) less often than would normally be expected. So by saying a bat is weak to wind would mean that it wouldn't resist the full Aeroga as often as you'd expect for a mob of that level.

In general, though, it is good advice that elements strong against the crystal dropped are good spells to use against mobs. Using fire spells against ice based creatures, etc. Just be aware there are exceptions to this rule. --Chrisjander t/ c 16:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok Then sorry about that, I'll correct that now, --Daveie 20:47, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
