Talk:Steam Jacket

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

Is this just TP moves and spells? or is it all forms of damage of the same type (pierce/blunt/slash/magic) ? if its the former, I'm not sure what makes it different from the analyzer. Tahngarthortalk-contribs 23:00, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, even if it is the former function you mentioned, it would still be different from Analyzer in that it is a Water Attachment. The significance in that difference is that you have more options in what your attachments and maneuvers are, maybe you don't have any other Earth Attachments you want to use and thus the only thing you'd use an Earth Maneuver for is the Analyzer, and if you happened to be using a lot of Water Attachments, you would already likely be using Water Maneuver.

That's how I see it...If I'm using Valoredge Frame I'd use Analyzer, if I'm using Stormwaker Frame I'd use Steam Jacket. - Hiachi 00:57, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Does this attachment reset against ANY different move used against it? Example Pecking Flurry to Pecking flurry would obviously cause the damage down to kick in - however does a move like snatch morsel or feather tickle which do NO damage reset the value and the puppet takes normal damage again? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xellith (talkcontribs).

This is not the same as the analyzer. The analyzer would reset upon getting hit with a different move. The steam jacket, instead, is based on the type of damage taken. So if you take damage from a fire attack, then take damage from a stone attack I believe it resets. I'm not sure that it would even reduce damage from peckling flurry... it's not an elemental attack. I've no idea if it works on physical damage.
The analyzer only works on special moves, whereas the steam jacket works on both spells and special moves. The attachments stack multiplicatively, in the case of special moves. --Nateypoo 00:48, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
