Picking up the tear

There seems to have been some confusion here as to which equipment you need to remove to pick up the tear. Carmelo's exact phrase is "tools of war" which is somewhat vague. I tried picking up the tear with various equipment combinations; the tear only slipped away when I had a weapon or shield equipped. I was able to pick up the tear with ranged weapons, ammo, and armor equipped. An earlier version of the walk-through specified that gloves must be unequipped but this made no difference when I tried it.--Zuke 07:21, 31 July 2007 (CDT)

Evidently, there is more to this than just the equipping of anything. I took off everything and the shiny object just kept slipping through my fingers. (Perhaps another trait like dexterity or agility? My RDM has an AGI of 13 and a DEX of 14) Also, the ??? can be found along the whole length of the the Obere Creek in N Gustaberg, although it seems to usually be south of the main bridge on the trail. No, it's just the main and sub slots that need to be empty. Maybe you already had one in your MH or something. Because the Tear is Rare, you can only hold one at a time. --Anobi 05:37, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
