Talk:Wespe

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

Any information on where the best spawning locations are would be great. I've been farming bee larvae for days now. Thanks! Divinian 14:04, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Divinain

Does the all Wespes in the Temple drop bee larvae? can anyone confirm. i have been killing from the entrance to the spawn room for DFH? thanks

got drop on map 2, so would guess that all bees drop it. More wespes there too than on map 1. --Ukko Ylijumala 23:20, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Historical Background....

The current section quoted: "Wespe is the German word for "wasp". Wespe is also the name of a German howitzer used in World War II. It was very slender, which is most likely what inspired its name (not to mention the cannon as the stinger). The Wespe first saw action in 1943. It was primarily deployed on the Eastern Front. Production ceased in mid 1944 when Soviet forces captured the Polish factories manufacturing it. 662 in all were manufactured."

Am I the only one who thinks that it's far, far more likely that it meaning "wasp" is what inspired its name instead of some random cannon used in WW2? No idea where anyone would even get that idea from.. it just seems way too random, I removed it for now, unless someone offers a good explanation for why it should even be mentioned.. I think the intended meaning was "the cannon was named after a wasp because it was slender like a wasp," not "this monster was named after a cannon named the Wespe because they are both slender," but I don't think it matters whether the info stays. --NanaaMihgo 13:19, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Well I think given the name of the NM the item they drop pops ("Death from Above" a term shared by the US Air Force and Paratroopers), it could be related to the WWII artillery. Pometeme 08:40, September 25, 2009 (UTC)
